For my masters capstone project in April 2016, I worked with City of Madison to investigate best practices for the role of the City Planner in entrepreneurial ecosystems. I interviewed several players within the Capitol Region such as local entrepreneurs, funders, regional planners, social entrepreneurs, and elected officials, and I researched many programs and case studies across the nation to understand how city planners can best support their region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. From this research, I crafted recommendations, of which I passed along to the City of Madison’s Economic Development Committee. However, I had to move to Sacramento before I was able to present them. The piece also includes some discussion on how to measure the success of an entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Here is a link to the PDF, which provides a helpful entrepreneurial ecosystem glossary in the back 🙂
